Baptism is the initial Sacrament into the life of faith as a Christian.

In the Catholic Church the Sacrament of Baptism can be given at any age. If a person is at an age where they can understand the meaning of the Sacrament of Baptism then an instruction from our parish staff is preferred – in order to better understand the Sacrament and what is happening during the rite. If the person being baptized is under the age of 7 then a special one hour Pre-Jordan Session is offered to the parents to better understand what is happening during the Sacrament. If the person is an adult over the age of 18 then the process of R.C.I.A. is offered at our parish. This is called The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults. This is a journey from when you are inquiring about Baptism up until you receive the Sacrament of Baptism. This involves several sessions where “what it means to be Catholic” is explained to someone wishing to be Baptized.
